leave him. hes not daft. he does different grunts depending on what he wants. my 18 month doesnt say anything every child develops at different stages, my 3 girls were all talking by now, its just that my sons different, he will start talking when he goes to pre school or nursery so dont panic.

hi hun my 3 all taked late dont worry he will get there, dont stress, just keep talking to him,
look at books and you point to pics and tell him what it is eventually he will pick it up, he will
be quick doing something else every child is individual and do things at diffrent paces.
dont worry what other people children or people say he should be doing just enjoy him for
who he is and enjoy this special time. hugs xxx

this sounds extactly like my 26 month old little boy. He started saying mama and dada at about 8 months he even used to say nana and grandad but then about a year ago he just stopped. i get all the noises for animals and aeroplanes, trains and cars but he wont say a word now. were on a waiting list to see a speach theropist. it's nice to no were not the only 1's.

thanks everyone thinks i am mad with a son that dont talk but can do car
noises and grunts to let me know what he wants my hv said he will do it soon
but i am still waiting a year later she still says the same today my friends sometimes
says why talk to him if he wont talk back but if i dont talk to him then he will never talk
the past 2 day he has said pop and said again again for food i was very happy with him and told some friends and al i got of them is well again again is not food is it
i have never felt so mad in all my life i and i think i did because he was getting
there and they put him down i know again again is not for food but he is trying
i hope everything gos well with speach theropist i will see if my hv can do that for my son i will let you know what she saids i am seeing her on 4/8/08
