Toddler talkFussy toddler
My 20 month old daughter was always a great eater, she always ate anything i gave to her, but now she has become really fussy and refuses almost everything i put down to her, she only eats her breakfast and snacks i.e fruit, crackers, yoghurts. Any advice on how to get my toddler eating again would be really greatful as i dont know what else to try.
My 15 month old daughter is the same. Although, she has always been a fussy eater. But she does eat her fruit bless her. Try eating with her at meal times and sitting down with her on the floor as your then down to her level and we all know kids love that! Try a few pieces of food yourself from her plate and make yummy noises, she will then understand it's yummy and maybe she should try it. If she doesn't try it or like it then take it away and try again later. I know from experience that trying to get her to eat it more and more makes her hate it more and more. My girl has made herself physically sick a few times from stupidity at meal times. It gets better eventually, that's what you need to get telling yourself. Try a lot of different things too, kids like variety, they like to choose their food not be given it, so make sure she has more than one type of food on her plate and leave her to it (: good luck.
mine is the same - some days she eats like a horse but others she eats nothing, i am a chef and she sees me at work ion the kitchen a lot, whenever we can we sit with her and eat - this seems to be the time when she eats most. i also get her involved (safely) in the food - watching me put things in the oven, sprinkling cheese on the pasta etc..., i also get her to help set the table. She really does seem to enjoy and eat more when she has been involved in the process. i combine new foods with favourites, i made us a lasagne, her some pasta twists which i know she likes and put some lasagne on the side of her plate. i don't think there is an easy way just trial and error and know that they won't let themselves starve! :)
a huge sigh of relief when i saw this post!!
