My daughter is 18 months and i feel like i am repeating myself all the time- she goes for the exact thing i say she ecant have about 30 times a day - anyone had anything thats worked for them - i know its all part and parcel of being a mum but any ideas would be great - feel like im talking to myself - i read somewhere that their short term memory isn't properly developed so they dont always remember what you've said the day before. I feel so guilty cause when she'd done it the 30th time i put her inside and shut the door on her and she burst out crying. When i let her out again she just did the same thing again so ignoring her did't work!!!!!!HELP!!
HI hun, don't worry i thinks most toddlers are like that, my Hannah knows she's not allowed to touch certain things but that doesn't stop her!!, when she;s really naughty we tell her she will go in her playpen if she still does it, and we give her another try and if she's still naughty we tell her off and put her in the playpen, obviously she doesn't want to go so she crys and rattles the bars, and after afew mins we get her out, sometimes she goes backt o it othertimes she doesn't. The other thing we do is we have a mat on the floor in the lounge, and if sh'e starting to be naughty we tell her to come back on the mat, and a lot of the time she now does though if she doesn't we tell her she'll gointhe playpen and often she will come back to the mat. It's taken months of perserverance and to be honest nothing is fall proof!!, so good luck hun and hang in there!! xxxx
HI just realised i'd been loggd out, but at least the message appeared xxxx
They definitely know what no means, they just like to push the boundaries! My 18 month old knows she's not allowed to touch certain things in nanny's house, and doesn't touch them. On the rare occasion she does touch them she always looks around first to make sure no-one is watching!
If she is playing with something she shouldn't have, tell her no, take it off her but replace it with something she can play with. Hope this helps!
