TeethingTeething and medicine
Hi ladies my little man is getting loads of teeth through at the moment and he's really suffering, I know its ok to give calpol/nurofen for 2-3 days but if they are coming one after the other after the other is it safe to give pain relief every day? I don't want to give him it every day but I don't want him to be in pain either. We are using teething powders and gel too but nurofen seems to be the only thing that really gives him any relief.
i think it is actually ok to do but you dont want to do it for too long. why dont you ring your doctor in the morning just to double check. presumably you are, but try settling him with just the powders and if that doesnt work then resort to nurofen etc
Hi Shelly, I was at the doctors this morning and forgot to ask! I'll give them a call tomorrow. Thought about phoning NHS direct but they'll just quote the official recommendations. He's having powders and gel and then if that doesn't work I'm giving nurofen/calpol, he was so late getting his teeth that it looks like they are all going to come continuously now, he's only just got his 5th and 6th through at 18 months!
How are you and how are your girls? xx
aww poor little thing! My daughter is 18 months also but has most of her teeth, think she has 4 more to come. My LO never really suffered apart from in the evening, calpol and anbesol really seemed to work xxx
hi sharon
olivia seemed to get a lot all in one go also - she didnt get her first until 9mths.
we are all good thanks. olivia is all excited about xmas and freya is keeping me on my toes! she was going 4 hourly between her feeds and is having her last feed at approx 6.30/7pm and then waking up at 3am for a feed. the night before last she had her feed at 6.30pm and slept until 3.30am. yesterday she had her feed at 7.15pm and slept until 3.45am. so she is doing well! i think she is having a growth spurt though as today she has suddenly gone 3-3.5 hourly between her feeds and i have had to increase from 150mls to 180mls and she drained her last 180ml bottle!!! her sleeping during the day has been erratic and she is waking up grumpy but after that 180 bottle she has slept for 2.5 hours and has just woken up and given me a huge smile! she's 7 weeks tomorrow!
