Special baby dietscan homemade fruit juices be too acidic?
hello blessed mums! I'm a new mum of an 18 wks-old giggly baby boy. 2 months ago i was advised by my health visitor to start giving fruit juices to my baby since we have a very hot summer and babies need extra fluids( I'm breastfeeding by the way). I waited a bit longer until a week ago i decided to make my baby an apple juice. for me apple juice tastes so great, my baby liked it as well, but i just realized a pure one could be too acidic for such a very young tummy,so what i did is that i added cooled boiled water to it (1 part juice,2 parts water).I give him at least 30 ml,twice a day..for a week now.Today i tried on a new taste- tangerine...which he grimaces everytime he has it in his mouth( too sour i suppose ). I am really wondering if I'm just doin' fine .Am i?What other fruits can i safely try on?
please let me know what you think................

i think he will be ok, you are doing the sensible thing and watering it down, maybe the sharp taste of tangerine has just surprised him lol!! my little girl likes pear juice and also that V8 tropical fruit&carrot juice (watered down!!!) but i rekon they are fine with grape juice, orange etc etcx x x x x
hi sweet i think your doing great, your baby sounds lovely. i have 4 children.
i think its a great idea to make yourown juices i make them fo rthe kids sometimes,
what about pear, mango, strawberry, with apple try addig another fruit with it.
also what about carrots? ooh there so many.
hugs xx
HI hun, your doing fine, i'm a little surprised that your hv suggested fruit juice, but it must be ok if they say so, we've only just started giving Hannah some and she's 13 months old. I think your right to dilute the juice and you can always get some no added sugar aquash as well, we've just descovered Asda own peach and something (sorry!!) barley squash and hannah loves it and i tried it and i must admit it's nice, failing that theres always water, just pre boil it then let it cool xxxx
