Acid Reflux??

Hi, i have an 8 month old baby Boy, and from day one he was severely sick after every feed, he never sleeps and i am luck if he sleeps 1 solid hour during the day and at night. I have been to my doctors 30 times and at last i saw a paediatrician today he has told me that he beleives it is a Acid refulx that is irritated by Milk protein, he has put him Nutramin milk agaian, which i know my son will refuse, and some medicine, does anyone have any ideas on what foods i should avoid. he is brilliant with solids, just not interested in Milk, and when he does sleep he screams when you lay him down.
Any advice would be lovely thankyou.

Have you tried propping up the head end of his mattress up, we did this with books under her cot at one end, this will hopefully help the acid stay down, we used Enfamail AR anti reflux milk this helped Hannah loads, though she didn't have the acid problem as well, we were recommended to keep her upright for awhile after her milk as well to help settle everything into her stomach, it's only been the last month or so that she's slept through the night too, when they thought she had an acid problem they gave her Reditadine medicine proberly not spelt properly, she didn't need it but it might be a solution if the Nutramin is refused, but you need the advise of your doctor first, the Enfami milk is only available from chemists. Good luck hun it's awful to watch them suffer i know xxxxxx

Hi yes we do have a wedge under his mattress, but no help yet. i might see if i can get him back on the enfamil, we did try this previously but will try anything again. he only sleeps for about 5 hours in 24 hours the rest is spent crying. i am going out of my mind cos i have 2 older girls which are exhausted too, as he screams all night. thanks for the help at least i know i am not alone.x

My little girl is almost 7 weeks old and has been diagnosed with reflux since she was 2 weeks. At first we were given gaviscon to put in her formulas (only worked for a week then she refused her milk with it in) then we tried SMA Staydown (worked for 2 weeks but she continued to be sick and cry all the time) so my HV suggested having her tested for lactose intolerance and milk allergies and then to place her on SMA LF (lactose free formula) which i did 3 days ago and she seams to be more settled now and is hardly sick after her feeds now. We're still waiting on her test results as apparently they can take upto 3 weeks to come back adn even then they are not 100% as there is no specific test for lactose or milk intolerances.

Hope you find a working solution soon xxx
