Sleeping

sleeping

Hi
I had a little boy on thursday, i am trying to breast feed him which he has taken to very well but he won't sleep in his moses basket only in someones arms or lying next to me after feeding him in bed. I'm not sure if he's getting enough milk. We have started topping him up with bottle milk at night where he will sleep in his basket for a couple of hours. Has anyone any tips on how to get him to sleep in his basket, or sit in his chair or something other than sit and be cuddled. We do wrap him in a sheet so he's all tight but don't really like putting him to bed in this due to obvious reasons.
Any help/suggestions would be great.
Thanks
xx

Lots of breastfed babies get collic this could be why your baby does not like being put down ask your health visitor she should be able to help! good luck Joanne x

Hiya
Is this your first? I had my little girl 9 weeks ago and she was exactly the same it didn't help when relatives would cuddle her all day and let her just sleep in their arms, but she is so new she just probably wants to be close to her mum, have you tried skin to skin for 30 mins every day, that helped me. I'm breast feeding my little girl and what I do now is feed her in my bed on my side once she is finished I gently tap her back and rub it for about 15 mins then she is completely conked out thats when I then put her into her moses basket she doesn't stay there all night and I'll need to bring her in our bed to feed her but I just keep doing this, I also used her bottom sheet in the moses basket and wrapped it round my other boob so when she does get put in her basket, it smells of me plus its nice and warm as I found her waking up from going to my warm bed to her cold moses, hope this helps let me know how you get on and well done you for breast feeding I really struggled with the first 3 weeks!!

Hi, the same has happened to my son when he was born. He will only sleep in my arms or next to me in the bed. I was also breasfeeding and would breasfeed in bed as I was so exhausted. I also tried to put him in the moses basket and the cot but nothing worked. All I can say is once he is asleep then put him in the cot or m/basket because I left it and am battling to get him out of our bed. But dont worry you are not alone.

Thanks for the replies but unfortunatly I had to give up, i just couldn't do it anymore, I hadn't slept in days and couldn't cope, I have put him cow and gate comfort as he hadn't had a poo in days either which we were getting worried about and he is loads better. It broke my heart to have to give up but Lennon is much happier now. x
