My son is coming up to 8 months now he goes to sleep with no problems at all rountine is great. however he doesnt sleep right through He goes to bed between 7 and 7.30 any later than that and he just screams so have to get him to bed before then. He has had his supper and milk. He wakes up at about 2ish i have tried the crying rountine but it doesnt really work for me as he is in the same room! i dont get him up just stroke his cheek and cover him bck up with his blankets some times this works he might go back to sleep. then he might wake up again 20mins later screaming he is hungry trhis ges on and on til about 6am when he might give in and go to sleep. what should i do my health visitor has said give him water only at night but if he really is hungry like at times i really think he is should i starve him of his milk? PLRASE HELP????????

Hi there, i also have a 7 and a half month old son i put mine down at 7pm and he feeds at 11pm and 4am sometimes he might wake up a third time and just wont settle so i feed him and then he wwill fall straight back to sleep, i think if your baby is waking and not going back to sleep he is hungry i would feed him, im sure you would rather be up for half an hour feeding rather than hours on end listening to crying i think that if your baby is only waking twice for a feed at seven months your doing well, Good luck x

hi cc8899 - it sounds like he is just waking out of habit - so therefore breaking that habit should get him sleeping through. he really does not need feeds during the night at his age. stop giving him a bottle when he wakes during the night - if he really wants something then just give him water. make sure that he is filled up at every meal time - it is the cumulative amount they eat during the day that gets them through the night. x

what about a sleeping bag as you said you have to cover him up again with blanket could covers coming off be disturbing him. could a mobile over his bed with a light projection help? just some options that could be worth a try. some have a remote control so you may not even need to go near him. i find if my lo is struggling to drop off if he can see me he takes even longer.

Hi just a suggestion, i got told to try good night milk which is from 6 month, give them there supper then good night milk its thicker and ment to make them fuller for longer. my little boy slept through once on this, anything is worth a try, cant do any harm. Good luck xx
