Sleepingroutine??
Hey My son is 6 weeks old this week and I would like to begin to get him into a routine. He is my first and I dont know what routines work??! Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated xx
hey when my daughter turned 6 weeks, i started this routine :
she would wake up for a bottle between 3 and 6 am, i would feed her in bed, then put her back to bed until she woke up for her next feed
before she had her second feed i would change her nappy and get her dressed into proper clothes (t-shirt and trousers and socks) then take her downstairs for her bottle, then put her into her bouncer chair where she usually fell asleep for half an hr or so..
you cant really do anything from feedings times or anything
around 6:00pm she would have a bottle, so when she has finished that its around 6:30
so if its bath night i give her a bath and get her into a babygro, turn the lights off and turn the tv down and cuddle her for a bit... she either fell asleep or cried to go to bed after roughly a week around 7:00pm
its still working now, shes 11 weeks and shes got used to the routine, but she can sometimes stay awake a bit longer, which is good because i can fit another bottle in before she goes to sleep
hope this helps xx
during the day, i just let my daughter feed and sleep whenever she wanted to, but i made sure we stuck to a night routine tho. luckily her feeds during the day were roughly at the same time every day give or take an hour either way depending on when she woke up etc. for the morning, i did the same thing as miss-bump does - feed at 3-4amish and then put her back down, but i would get her dressed just after she had had her breakfast. i just made sure i got her dressed at the same time everyday and in fact even now she is 13 mths old, i still do the same thing!
her night time routine was bath at 7.45pm (not every day tho), bottle at 8pm, bed at 8.308/45pm (depending on how long it took to finish bottle, wind etc) (again, very similar to what we do now, just she goes to bed at 8pm, rather than 8.30!). i was keen that she got used to falling asleep on her own in her crib early on, so when she was about a week old i would put her down at the exactly the same time at night. if my daughter woke up later one morning so therefore it would mean that her bedtime feed may not be due until 9pm, i would still give her at feed at 8pm just to keep her in the routine. my daughter stopped waking for night feeds at 6weeks old, so things got easier then as she tended to wake up at the same time every day so her feed routine was pretty much the same from then on.
my advice would be to set a good night time routine, but let him do what he wants during the day and then establish your own routine from that. i dont think you can follow somebody elses routine entirely cos what suits one baby may not suit another. good luck, you will find your own way! x
my son is 13 weeks old today and since he was 6 weeks old we have noticed him settle into a routine. he sleeps from 7pm til 6am without waking through the night.
he feeds around every 3 hours, plays, take him for a walk everyday and by 6pm he has his last feed, then a warm bath and hes put in his moses basket at 7pm. he cries a little for 10 minutes then falls asleep. i check on him every 15 minutes cant help it lol. hes put upstairs in our bedroom even with baby monitors on i cant help checking.
let him sleep when he wants in day and if hes crying all the time take him for a walk, fresh air works wonders x
my daughter is 4 weeks old and ive just started getting her into a routine at night time. During the day she is breastfed so at about 7.30pm I give her a bath and change her into pjs. At 8 she is given her 1st bottle of the night, burped and given cuddles until she's nearly asleep. At about 9ish she is put into her moses basket with her dummy, and she knows that its bedtime, she stirs and moans a bit but I go back and give her dummy back and say good night. She generally doesn't wake up for a feed until between 2 and 3. The next feed is usually between 6 and 7 so thats when we get up and start the day.
