Sleepingis it safe to move my 10wk old daughter into her cot in her room?
Hi
My daugher Phoebe keeps waking up when in her crib in our room as she keeps getting her arms stuck in the bars, I was wondering about moving her into her cot but it won't fit in our room. we have the monitor that has the sensor pad, has anyone else moved their baby out of their room at this early age?
HI, my lil girl is nearly 5mnths but when she was about 12wks i considered putting her in her own room as she was starting to outgrow the moses basket. Instead i bought a graco travel cot plus a thicker mattress for everyday use and its great. It can also be used as a playpen when theyre a bit older and we're taking it to center parcs in november
hi, i had the same problem with my little boy when he was a little one. we moved him into his own room and into his cot when he was 3 months old. i found that he also slept better in the bigger cot. we just had a normal monitor and he coped really well with the change. he hasnt looked back since.
Both my children have been in their own rooms right from when they came home from hospital. If you have a good baby monitor, your daughter will be fine. You can control the volume and will probably hear her better than if she was in a cot in your room.
make sure you put baby in a sleepbag/ grobag if you do. they say babies are better off in your room until 6 months because of risk of cot death. this is because firstly our breathing regulates our babys breathing, you can easily check if the bed covers have not come loose and also it is handy if the baby is in your room if you are still doing middle of the night feeds. i liked the above suggestion of a travel cot. you could then when the time is right move travel cot into nursery and then move baby from that into a proper cot
Best thing we did was but Archie in his own room at 5 weeks, as I was suffering from severe sleep deprevation. I was waking on every turn and murmer as he was noisy! At first we had the monitor but even then the lights and noise was the same. We took it out and left our door open a crack and his (he is next door) so we only wake if he actually wakes up or cries, after all our mums never had moniters!!
I 100% agree with KTdive. We put Milly in her own room at 4 weeks as we were constantly waking each other up after a couple of nights we even stopped using the monitor because it made too much noise, we just left the bedroom doors open a bit. Milly was fine with her own room and at 6 weeks was sleeping through the night! Next time i will be putting baby in its own room straight away. Its your decision hun so dont let anyone sway you or make you feel bad about it xx
My baby is 14 wks old and she is still sleeping in our room, we are thinking of moving her in to her own room soon though as it is a nightmare creeping in to the room at night for bed. It is interesting to know why baby is recommended to sleep in our room till 6 months old.
