Sleeping

Rusks!

Hello, has anyone on here tried giving baby Rusks that are less than 4 months old? I have been told to give my 7 week only half a rusk in his last bottle of the night to help him sleep for longer. Has anyone else ever tried this? x

Yes i tried it when my lo was around 4-5months. I would say start with a very tiny bit first so the taste of the milk is not significantly different, then build up a bit more every few nights.

i put about half in to start with any my daughter hated it, so put less than a quarter which went dount much bettr. and it did defo make a difference to how long she slept. but a nearly 2hrs.
best wishes.

I wouldn't add anything to their bottles at this age. . Their stomachs are only small so most still wake every 2-3 hours for a feed (mine does, she's nearly 12 weeks) also their digestive systems aren't mature enough to digest anything stronger than milk just yet and they need all the nutrition they can get to help them grow.
I know it's tiering but hang in there, it soon gets easier
Take care

first, never add any food to a bottle regardless of the baby's age - doing that is a high risk of causing choking - babies take milk from the back of their mouth (that is obviously where the teat is positioned) and if you put anything other than milk in a bottle they wont know it is there and it can cause them to splutter and take it into their lungs rather than their stomach. it is a very dangerous thing to do.

at that age, a baby is meant to be having milk and milk only - please dont give any
solid food and certainly not just to make a baby sleep longer

thirdly, even with a baby who is older, rusks are a bad idea - they are basically biscuits - only reduced sugar varieties contain a lot of sugar. also, rusks should not be given in any event until a baby is at least 6 months old because they contain gluten and gluten is not suitable for a baby under 6 months old.
