COT BUMPERS - ARE THEY A GOOD IDEA

AT THE MINUTE BY 5 MONTH OLD BABY GIRL SLEEPS IN HER MOSES BASKET IN HER COT. I DID HAVE HER IN HER COT WITHOUT THE MOSES BASKET WHEN SHE WAS 3 MONTHS OLD BUT SHE DIDNT SLEEP VERY WELL. SO I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS TOO LARGE A SPACE AND SHE DIDNT FEEL VERY SECURE. (I DID USE A COT DIVIDER AS WELL) ANYWAY I THINK IT IS TIME FOR HER TO COME OUT OF THE MOSES BASKET AND SLEEP IN THE COT AGAIN. I HAVE THESE NICE COT BUMPERS IN THE CUPBOARD AND I WAS WONDERING DO I PUT THESE ON TO MAKE THE COT NICE AND COSY OR IS IT BEST TO LEAVE THEM OFF. I HAVE READ DIFFERENT REPORTS ABOUT OVERHEATING. ALL THOUGH TO ME THAT DOESNT MAKE SENSE. ALSO SHE WONT BE CLIMBING ON THEM FOR A WHILE AS SHE IS TOO YOUNG. WHAT ARE THE OTHER RISKS. IS ANYONE OUT THERE USING COTBUMPERS?

Hiya, I think it might be best to use cot bumbers, this is incase they knock themselfs on the sides, head / arms / legs etc whilst asleep.
They won't get over heated, you can always add / take away a cover to make sure your girl is at the right temperature.
It is up to you, but I do think it would be a safer option to use them.

Hi, if it was the middle of a hot summer i might of said leave them off but as were not that hot, its up to you, though as soon as she's mobile in her cot ( my lo was before she was mobile on the floor) then i would suggest taking it away xxx

hi hun,
at the moment my baby sleeps like yours as seems to like to be huddled in if you know wht i mean. i have cot bumpers and will and have used them with my others. i guess it makes them feel more secure and is useful if they move like mine did and dont knock the sides.
i started using them9 years ago and my kids have been fine just make sure they are tied
properly. i havent had any probs of overheating, and i didnt have a prob with mine using them for climbing on and used them right up until they came out of the cot ot go into a bed hope this helps xx

My little one has been in the big cot since he was just under three months as he outgrew the moses basket,,,,gonna be tall like his Daddy ! Cot bumpers on as he's a wriggle and lashes his arms and legs about so I feel its safer and there is now way he could possibly overheat, there is plenty of room so he's not pressed up against them !

My ds went in the big cot at 5 months and i had a bumper on, But he rolls onto his side and he puts his face into the bumper. I move him back but he likes to sleep with his face on something, so i have taken it off as i thought he may suffocate himself. Now he sleeps on his tummy... Nightmare!! He sleeps through the night and i'm up every hour checking and rolling him back on his back.

hi sweet,
i would leave him on his tummy that way he is happy and you will get some sleep, as you've discovered he will only roll back, despite what they say i feel safer when they sleep on their tummy and have done so with all my 4 oldest 9 youngest 3 mths.
hugs xxx
