Not in your position, but wanted to say hang in there she wont be in hospital for ever, just keep thinking about how lovely it's gonna be when she's well enough to come home. Take care xxxx

Hiya, my twins were born at 29 weeks on the 13/01/08 weighing 2lb 10oz and 3lb 1oz, they were extremely poorly and spent the first 17 days of their lives in Intensive Care before finally going round to Special Care where they were there for another 5 weeks. I know it sounds like a lifetime and it definately feels like it but my girls are now home and at 4 months old are thriving. They now weigh 9lb 13oz and 10lb 2oz. I really feel for you and know what your going through xxx Just keep strong and keep expressing your milk to keep her strong!!!!!

Hi, It doesnt seem like it now but it does get better. I had my 1st child @ 29wks He spent the first 10 days in NICU at a hospital 21/2Hrs away from home then he was transferred to SCBU at local hospital. It does get easier and to look at my son now he is 3 1/2 you would never know. I have just had my 2nd Child and she was born at 35wks & spent 2wks in SCBU.

Honey, remember than you are doing everything that you can, he is in the right place and will be home with you before you know it. Seeing him every 2 days is unlikely to effect your bonding with him, feel proud of the little miracle that your body made and look forward to all the lovely cuddles you'll be able to give him when he's home.

Make sure that you look after yourself with plenty of sleep and healthy food so that you are strong for him. Feeling down will be totally natural - make sure you get lots of emotional support from your friends and have a good cry when you need to, it's your body's way of getting over the show of birth and of having a poorly baby. my little girl was only 4 weeks early and only in neonatal care for 1 week, but it was heart breaking and hard going.

He's getting the best possible care and will be with you soon.

Ricky x
