Premature babiesAre there any other mums of premature babies?
Hi all I'm new to the site and im over the moon to finally be a mum after 4 miscarriages. My gorgeous girl was born premature at 32 weeks and I dont know any other mums with premature babies so was wondering if anyone here is in the same boat as me? would be great to hear from anyone
Hi,
CONGRATULATIONS!
I'm Lea . . I had my lil man at 38 weeks but the placenta stopped feeding at around 34 weeks so he was classed as prem . . he was 5lb 3oz.
How much did your LO weigh?
How old is she now?
xx
Hi.
thankyou! It still doesnt feel real. she weighed 4lb 1oz and shes just turned 8 months. its amazing but whenever you tell people how old she is they all give you a look as if to say why is your baby so small, do you get that? How old is your little man?
He's nearly 7 months now and yes I get the same!!!!
also what annoys me is people still buy him small baby or newborn outfits even though he is now in 3-6 months!
does she sleep through yet??
My lil man doesn't . . I put it down to his stomach only being small but friends say that doesn't matter and that he should be sleeping through by now . .
he only sleeps about 5 hours before getting hungry.
Livi's mummy thankyou for your reply its so nice to hear your niece is doing well and did everything at the right stages. The drs at the hospital told us that by the time our girl starts school she should have caught up with everyone else. she is 8 months old now and cant sit up unsupported but she babbles away like an old woman which is lovely. its encouraging to hear of your niece.
Hi,
I am going to give the water thing another go tonight and see how we get on as I saw the HV today and she says he should be sleeping through.
He can't get from lying to sitting by himself but he can remain sat once I have put him there.
Have you tried splitting your LO's legs in a 'V' shape just over a shoulder width wide, making sure her back is nice and straight to help her learn to sit?
If you hold each hand does she pull on you to try sit?
If not, she probably just doesn't want to . . each baby is different and some are just lazy :)
does she prefer to stand?
We found out our LO could sit by accident . . I thought my partner had hold, he thought I did . . I stood up to walk away and then we both argued about how the other one should have had him before we actually realised he was sitting by himself!
as long as she is alert and interacts, wanting to play etc I am sure she is fine!
Do you find your daughter just wants to eat and eat once she has seen food?
Once my lil man catches sight of food he just wants to eat it and once he has started he doesn't want to stop . . . he never seems satisfied. I have to stop him feeding when I think he is full . . he carries on for about a min and then is fine!?
The HV said its because he didn't get enough when he was inside but i thought that would have passed by now?

hi cherib. my baby was not premature, but my eldest niece was. she was born at just over 35 weeks by emergency section after my sister developed pre-eclampsia (which she unfortunately also got in her second pregnancy and my other niece was also born at 38 weeks). my niece weighed 4lb 11oz and was in special care and being fed through a tube - it certainly wasnt nice seeing this tiny little bundle in that situation. thankfully she gained weight well and although she was still fed through a tube for a few weeks after (even after she was allowed to go home), she did well. going on from your comment above - asking whether there were delays in doing things - this certainly wasnt the case for my niece. she sat up and did things at all the normal times (bearing in mind of course that all babies do things at different rates). she actually walked at a day short of 11mths old which was 3 months earlier than my daughter who was born at 39+6 (my daughter is nearly 3yrs)! my niece started school in september - it's hard to believe that that tiny fragile little girl
is nearly 5 years old!
congratulations to you! x
Thats great that he is doing well. did you find there was a big delay in things like sitting up etc?
my son was born january last year at 34+5 weeks so he had a little longer than your little girl to grow, but he's now 22 months and doing great xxx
Hey,
Congratulations with you baby hun :D
My name is esme and i've a baby girl who's coming upto 4 weeks on 13th march although she was born 5weeks early.
When i was preganant i did have my up and down moments such as not knowing about being preganant untill just before turning 19 since i was told i weren't before hand but i was over the moon when i found out :D
After that i found out that my daughter had more fluid on one side of her brain which may have lead to her being born with problems. But thankfully it cleared by the last scan and now she's a beautiful little girl who's perfectly fine :D xoxox
Hi
My lo was born at 36 weeks in nov 2008. They were never able to give me a reason why he was early I was just told it was one of those things. He was 6lb 6oz and they do catch up with full term kids so well. To look at him now you would not know he was premature
