going back on the pill

..

i havent been on the pill for many years but am planning on going back on it at my 6 wk check (which is on monday). (i had uterine polyps prior to having my first and the pill was making it hard for the polyps to be diagnosed so i was a bit dubious about going back on the pill again in case it causes the polyps to return, however, i would rather that than get pregnant again!)
anyway, i have only ever taken the normal combined pill, but know that the side effects of the mini pill are less than the ordinary pill but that the mini pill may be less effective at preventing pregnancy (except that cerazette seems to be just as good as the combined pill), that it doesnt control periods and that you have to take it at exactly the same time every day otherwise it reduces its effectiveness.
i was just wondering whether anybody who is on the mini pill can tell me a bit more about it as i like the idea of it not having as many side effects as the ordinary pill but am unsure about whether i can rely on myself to take it at exactly the same time every day! what are you experiences of it? thanks

im on the mini pill, not to many side effects been ok on it to be honest, no had a period since being on it, you dont have a break like with the normal pill erm not much bad to say about it, but only that you do have to take it at similar times and you get a 12hr time gap if forgotten, if you forget you are not covered for 2 weeks xx

mmm, as i said, i like the idea of it not having side effects, but i like being able to control periods with the pill. i didnt realise that with the mini pill if you miss one you arent covered for 2 weeks.....i dont think it woudl be a good idea for me to use it then, dont think i can remember to take it at the same time!

I am also planning on going on the mini pill after this baby. Don't like the sound of not having periods though as i want more children. Could it actually effect your fertility?x

not having periods should only be temporary while you are on it and your fertility normally returns within a few months after coming off of it. however, be careful about long term pill use. i chose not to go back on the pill after olivia was born as i knew we wanted another baby and would rather let my cycle regulate and leave my body to do it naturally so that we could hopefully conceive easier. it took my cycle 12 mths to regulate after olivia was born and as i say, that was natural regulation. it doesnt bother me what happens this time as we arent having any more children. i have actually decided to go on the combined pill anyway. the side effects may be more but at least i know the exact days i will have a period unlike with teh mini pill!

I'm on the mini pill. Been on 3 types. They are all different some you only get a 3 hour window some u get up to 12 hours. I have an alarm on my phone to remind me at 5pm every day and keep one pack in the bath room, one in the changing bag n one in my handbag so I have it on me where ever I am at that time. It hasn't effected my periods at all and they have reculated better now than they were before I got pregnant. They added benefit is they come with a little period check card so you can record and track your period.

i actually went back on the combined pill yesterday. it is the same one as i was on 5 years ago so i decided to stick to what i know! after years of my cycle being anywhere from 4-7 weeks long i am quite pleased to know when i am due on!

How extremely bad was my spelling last night :o I must have been more tired than I thought lol. I'm trying to get an appointment to go back on the injection I found that so much easier than trying to remember to take my pill every day.

i did consider the implant or injection, but i woudl rather take the pill as at least that way i know i am doing it!
