Weak pelvic floor after birth

Advice needed please!! I had a forceps delivery nearly 4 weeks ago. During this, I had an episiotomy. I started my pelvic floor exercises this week and found I can't feel a thing! I've tried stopping the flow of urine whilst on the loo but found I can barely do this. I'm really worried in case I've been left with permanent damage. May be I'm just being impatient? Has anybody else had this problem? or does anybody know how long it takes for the pelvic floor to repair? thanks!

you must be reading my mind, my little one is 3 months old now, I had forceps and an episiotomy. It took nearly 2 months before I could hold my urine in a stop start motion. I still can't stop it when in full flow. My health visitor said by the end of 3 months if you can't get your gp to refer you for physiotherapy. I wasn't eager for this. Howeveer I have been on other forums and Boots do their own trainer and various other forums recommend certain equipment I just wanted to try and find out what ones mums recommend and if they are any good or get straight back to gp??
