Sciatica

I had a section last Wednesday, and on Monday night had really bad back pain - had been out walking that day although not very far. The pain had gone on Tuesday, but came back on the night - had not walked this time. Woke up on Wendesday in agony and have been that way since. The midwife yesterday aid it sounds like sciatica. I spoke to a doctor on the telephone on wednesday who gave me a prescription for cocdamol and told me to stop taking the ibuprofen given by the hospital for caesarian pains (had none of them!)
I can't actually put any weight on my left leg, and can't sit up once I am lying in bed on a night. My husband has to sit me up then get the baby out the basket and pass her to me when she needs feeding! I have been on painkillers since having the section, but am still in agony!!
Has anybody else suffered with this? How long does it last?
