Feeding problems and questions

time for food

my 4month old girl has started messing around at feed times,she is on the bottle and not unhappy with it,but now she is tryin to chat,wiggle and looking round wen feedin her,she plays with the bottle with her tongue and may only take 3-5 oz,she does not cry for her milk and sleeps all night, but we ve also noticed she watches us wen we eat.should we try her on baby rice, im concerned she is not taken enough milk.over all tho she is a happy baby.advice please ladies,x

i wouldnt. it is totally normal for babies to watch you when you eat - being distracted with a bottle is normal too, just feed her in a quiet room with no distraction. if her milk intake is already starting to reduce, introducing solid may reduce it further and then you end up in a difficult situation with dehydration and not getting enough nutrition. (baby rice does not have any nutritional value - the only nutritional value with baby rice comes from the formula it is mixed with). if she was finishing all her bottles and then demanding more, then you'd consider weaning. continue to demand feed her for now. babies have growth spurts at 4 months old which can result in all kinds of upset to their feeding routine but it is not normally a sign of needing to be weaned
