Feeding problems and questionsDoes my daughter always needs vegetables??
This may sound like a really stupid question but since my daughter has been on finger foods and eating the same dinners as me and my partner (just over 2 months) she has always had meat or fish with veg and mash.
Can we give her maybe spegetti a few days a week instead of veg just for change for her??
I asked my health visitor and she said no cos she should be eating as much veg as possible...Just seems a bit boring to me lol xxx
Hiya, hv's can be a bit of a pain & promote healthy eating til they're blue in the face which obviously we all want but I don't see why a couple of days without it would do any harm!! Grace has veg with her main meal maybe 4/5 days a week but also has meals without & will have beans or spagetti instead! As long as you're not feeding her chips every night I really can't c the problem!! :)

I agree with Jodie, a healthy balanced diet and a good attitude to food, which you obviously have. HV are all very well and good with their advice, but that is all it is, advice. I would give her the spaghetti every now and then. Continue with all the fruit and veg you want.
At the nursery i work at hun they are strict on veg 5 a day etc they tend to give veg or salad with dinner and for tea the children have stuff like beans and spaghetti on toast so as long as its balanced should be fine :)
I will be getting told off by health visitor then cos me n my boyfriend hate veg lol =-D
hey hun, i dont think giving your daughter veg every meal day in day out is very good. obviously were told to give as much veg as possible and a huge variety if possible but theres no problem with giving her spagghetti, cottage pie.
some nights i just give joshua a few breadsticks ,grapes and cheese cubes for his tea if hes had a big dinner.
i believe in a varied diet!!!
your baby should be able to eat anything you eat now(from 6 months)
good luck with trying all different foods xx
Hya, since my daughter Grace turned 6 months ( shes now 7+ ) i have bn trying her on as much as i can, she likes mash with cheese in it and she loves home made spag bol, u can get baby pasta from boots which they can have from 7 months. She loves these little yogurt pots as well Petty Filou ones, u can get cow and gate ones as well. I didnt have a clue what to give het at first so i bought a baby cook book which was realy good, its got a meal planner in as well! Hope this helps a little.
Enjoy it x x x
my daughter wasnt fussed on veg when younger (loves it now!) but loved fruit and still does so i dont push the veg on her i just make sure she eats lots of fruit!
she also eats the same as us most evenings and that isnt always veg but i aint stressing about it because i know she is eating healthy enough and she loves her spaghetti.
one of annabel karmels cookbooks have a bolognese sauce that is made with loads of veg in it which you could try if you want.
my daughter has also just discovered a love of peas so if she is hungry before tea is ready i just pop a few in the microwave and put them on her highchair and she eats them all (and it keeps her quiet for a bit!)x
