Feeding problems and questions

14 month old lost her appetite ??

Hi my 14 month old daughter has been a really good eater she would eat everything in front of her but for the last couple of weeks shes only been eating about half of what she would normally have! she had her MMR jab 3 weeks ago and its only since this she's been off her food, anyone else experienced this? she is also teething but doesn't normally go off her food when cutting teeth! apart from this she is her normal happy self. would like to hear if anyones any suggestions or am i worrying for nothing? thanks lisa xxx

Hi Lisa, its me Lisa, Dylan went off his food when he was teething, if that helps. Even now sometimes i can't fill him another he will hardly eat (if you think about it thats what we do its just they can't tell you what they feel like!) Try not to worry just keep a check on her weight and try not to make food a issue as it could get to be a battle then they can get food phoba's.(issues might of spelt wrong, spelling is not my strong point!) just give her stuff that she loves for a while.

My daughter will be 3 months old soon. I am looking forward to weaning her but would like to get any suggestions on weaning. Is it ok to start pureed food at 6 months or should I give it a try around 5 months?

HI hun, it depends on your baby, they say the nearer you can wait until they are 6 months the better as there tummys have more time to develope, and i'd start off on baby rice to start with just to get her tummy used to food then go onto pureed veg ect after that. It's a messy business, haha, but very rewarding, but beware of the mess!! good luck hun, xxxx

Hi Sassy_1, lisa here!! yeah Lucy seems to be getting better thanks shes eaten much better today, seen health visitor today & she said it seems like shes had a reaction to her MMR jabs the after effects of the MMR dont appear til about 7-10 days after jab!, plus teething dosen't help, she has gained weight though so not too worried now. Thanks for replying though chick. xxxx

Hi AD2008 - I weaned Lucy at 5 & 1/2 months as she went off her milk! so HV advised I wean I just stuck to baby rice til 6mths though then went onto pureed veg, but like sassy_1 says it depends on your baby, your baby will let you know when shes ready, but it is best to hold off til 6 months if poss, some signs are suddenly waking up in the night for a feed if been sleeping through or like lucy going off milk or wanting more after draining a bottle. Hope this helps, If you need any more advise let me know!! luv lisa xxxx
