General baby healthSore and very red neck crease.
Can anyone give me advice on what do do with my 4 month old sons neck. Its very red and sore and is slighty weepy. I gently clean it with warm water on a cotton wool ball and make sure its dry after every feed but it doesnt seem to be gettin better. Can anyone suggest anything to put on it or anything i can do differently. Hate seein it look so sore. :O(
Hi the best thing you can do is keep it dry as possible as you can, do what your doing right now and make sure to dry off after cleansing. You can order dribble bibs from funky giraffe either ebay oramazon which I found fab for my son...FC it heals up soon xx
In meantime before getting bibs, use a muslin to catch milk etc and stop it wetting the area xx
My little one gets it sometime despite always wearing bibs. When I clean her Kodak I dry it and coat it with sudocreme! Try that
Kodak should be neck
No offence to boden1986 (sorry) but problem with sudo is its not breathable so can cause infection if it is a little infected...Ask a pharmacist if your not sure if it is or not
Sudo is a brilliant tool otherwise for all kinds of things I love the stuff, just didnt use it on my sons neck as it seemed to make it worse :(
I used sudocrem on my sons dribble rash too, but it was under quite a few chins lol so there was no chance of him getting it on his hands etc and I only put a tiny tiny tiny bit on, it cleared it up really quickly. I used to dry it properly first and then put it on after every feed but especially last thing at night and within a couple of days it was gone. If you think it might be a fungal infection though then you would need something on prescription so if it smells really bad or looks infected then see your gp :-))xx
If it was just a rash or redness then I would have gone with sudocreme however as you have said it is weepy it sounds like it is infected. Its probably just a fungal infection. Either see your GP or ask the pharmasist for someting over the counter. They usually just give you canasten or something like that and it should start to clear up straight away x
we had a problem like that in our newborn's armpit. the doctor prescribed Daktarin cream to rub on, after a couple of days application it cleared up. He got a red rash around his neck creases too, my doctor said it wouldn't hurt to use it on that and it cleared up :)
hey I know you posted this a while ago and the problem's probably cleared up by now, so hope this helps other people :)
if smelly.has white cheesy looking or looks weepy visit your gp they will prescribe daktarin or timodene
