Baby constipation-My daughter is nearly 7months and is constipated

My daughter is nearly 7months and has been constipated for one or two days now, sometimes quite large stone like stools and once or twice has had little pellet like stools. Is there anything you could suggest to help ease her pain? I have increased her fluid intake (of water and baby juice) in between meals, and will begin massaging her stomach today.

The pharmacy say there is nothing that can be bought as she is too young (I would need a prescription)

Please any suggestions to help ease her pain would be greatly appreciated!! Thank You

Hi, when my son is constipated I give him the 4 month jars of fruit puree - usually half a jar with each meal (or snack) and it works every time - think its because there is more fruit in it with it being pureed. The fruit pots are good too. Other than that increasing fluids like you are already doing. The puree should sort it out but if you are having an ongoing problem with constipation then I would see your gp :-))xx

try mixing a little bit of unrefined sugar or a teaspoon of unsweetened orange juice in and ounce of water. I tend to give my son a bit of extra water too if i've not seen anything that day. I agree with buffy, go to your gp if it continues.

I find the orange juice works mose of the time with more fruit. the 4 month fruit pots are good unless you have time to do your own. Good luck.

Hi, when my daughter was little I was told to give her diluted apple juice for constipation and it worked well. I was told to give her apple juice instead of orange as orange can cause them to have a sore bottom so i never tried orange juice. Hope it helps

hi
the best thing you can do is talk to your hv. my current foster baby has suffered awfully with constipation so we spoke to the hv who spoke to the gp who then prescribed lactulose.
also if your lo is still on formula milk switch to cow and gate colic and constipation milk.
