hiya when I stopped breastfeeding my milk dried up mostly within a week or two however 2 months on and still get the occasional very small drop! so think it jst depends on your body!

there is not usually an easy answer to that princessjasmine... try getting somebody else to feed him formula - if you do it it can sometimes confuse them given he will associate feeding time with breast! keep trying i'm afraid. my friend's little girl is 8mths and she has been trying to get her to take formula since she was 4 months old but still no luck. she is literally going to refuse to breastfeed her - if she gets thirsty she'll have to take formula. my friend checked this with her hv tho before she starts it, so do make sure you do the same and talk to your hv if going cold-turkey is something you'd consider.

Hi I stopped breastfeeding 2 days ago I 'm not sure If I should stop it at once like that or gradually how did you stop? And how long did it take for your baby to accapt that.Holly my baby girl is almost 14 months

soldafaya, I'm guessing at 14 months that Holly is having only one or two feeds a day? When I stopped breastfeeding at a year, that is what my daughter was having and I first cut out the morning feed for a couple of weeks, which was fairly straightforward. I just expressed enough to make myself comfortable, but not too much. Once I had decided enough with the whole thing, the final giving up wasn't easy. I literally one evening didn't feed her, daddy did with some cows milk. I left the house, as she was screaming the place down. It took a few nights, not many and she was refusing the cows milk, so we just made sure she had water before bed. It was almost as if she was saying you won't feed me any more, so I won't drink any milk. She's fine, now three, as I say it took a few nights, and I had to steer well clear, but she soon accepted it. Hope it all goes ok. I also expressed a little to avoid mastitis. Good luck xxx

Hi, I'm looking for some advice, I have gradually been stopping breastfeeding and on
tuesday I stopped all together, I'd only been feeding my baby in the morning for the last
few weeks. I thought I was doing well but I have one very hard and quite sore breast is this normal?
I'd appreciate any help or answers

Hi, mummy kylie, I breastfed my wee boy and am now feeding my 7month old. When i stoppedfeeding my wee lad, even though i was only doing a night feed, its still producing milk so maybe its just a little blocked. does it feel a bit lumpy? If it is that then having a warm bath and massaging it with a warm cloth may help.
Im no expert so could be wrong, but possibility.
Hope that helps, xx
