BottlefeedingCow & Gate 2 Hungrier Baby Milk
Hello, my son is 14 weeks & is now getting alot more hungrier, he used to sleep right through the night but the last week or so he is getting up about 4am for a feed, i was thinking of giving him the hungrier baby milk, has anyone changed from 1 to 2 milk? Will it constipate him?
Hiya
My friend's baby was the same and she phoned the c+g helpline and was advised to try the hungry milk at bedtime bottle to start off with and see if that helps. My little boy has been on the c+g hungry milk from around 3 months and it didn't make him constipated as he has always had loose bowel movements due to the prebiotics. If you do use the hungry milk just make sure you give a drink of water in between feeds and that should help with preventing constipation. Also, I found that it takes a couple of weeks before the milk starts to do the job it is supposed to i.e fill them up! LOL!!

Hi all,
I've been wondering about C&G2, as hubby and I would like to have a longer nights rest as I'm hoping to go back to work asap.
Our little one will be 2 months old this coming week.
Currently our baby sleeps for 2.5-3hrs; I enquired with a pharmacist, and she said that some mothers 'cheat' by using C&G2 for night time feeds so baby is hungrier for longer during the night, and then during the day to go back to C&G1.
Any comments or advice?
I know they say 'mum knows best' but honestly I'm not sure what to do, or who to ask... I'd greatly appreciate other mum's and/or dad's points of views.
Thank-you,
M
I changed from number 1 to number 2. My son was only a few weeks old when we changed and he is happy on number 2 now. He sleeps through the night (from 11 to 7 or 8) and he's only 9 weeks.
On number 1 he didnt sleep through the night, but it took a few nights when put onto number 2 for him to sleep right through,
Only problem is now that he's on number too, he's used to it, and he is getting even hungrier, so not sure what i'll do now..
thanksall - my little one is 6 weeks yesterday and only going 3-3.5 hoursatm and takin 5 ozs every feed so will definitely try number 2. teenagemum, there isa number 3 hun xx
charlidestiny - dont put your baby on hungry baby milk. at 6 weeks old baby is too young to be on it. going 3 to 3.5 hours between feeds is excellent at your baby's age. stage 2 (hungry baby milk) contains the same number of calories as stage 1 milk but it will make your baby feel fuller and go longer between feeds, so will therefore take less feeds in 24 hours and because it only contains the same number of calories your baby will not be getting the calories s/he needs to grow and may start losing weight. stage 2 milk is designed for older babies who are taking full 8oz bottles and are still hungry but not yet old enough for weaning. at your baby's age s/he needs to be demand fed. your baby is not a hungry baby if s/he is going 3 to 3.5 hours between feeds and is only taking 5oz at a time.
also, at your baby's age s/he should not be expected to go through the night - they need regular feeding to grow.
my son is 5weeks old and we've just started him on stage 2 but just for his last 2 feeds b4 bed.
he was 10lb 10oz at birth so was always gonna feed more. using the stage 1 milk, he was having 18oz of milk in a 2hour period b4 bed but puking it up coz his tummy cant hold that much but he IS hungry. Now he has 6oz (stage 2) at 4pm and 6oz (stage 2) at 8pm. he then wakes up about midnight and 4am and has 3-4oz of stage 1 milk. all his day feeds are stage 1, 6oz feeds.
midwife in hospital said dont use 'hungrier' baby milk but tbh if babies couldnt drink that milk then c+g wouldnt b able to make it as its strictly regulated! it says 'from birth' on the packet.
i do agree about night feeding tho-if baby is hungry at night u must feed them.
channie 1986 - your situation is different and therefore using hungry baby milk for your baby is the right thing to do given the amount your son is taking. the problem comes when some people try to use it to make babies to longer between feeds when really there is no need to. because it only contains the same number of calories they then end up taking less feeds because it keeps them fuller for longer and therefore end up with less calories.
