hi, can anyone help, i have a 8month old red haired girl with a temper to match! everytime i enter a shop she screams and cries. she is so loud that everyone stares as though she is in agony. i have remained as calm as possible and have tried giving her a fav toy, trying to distract her but nothing works. today i thought id try again but after 10mins of screaming i gave her a snack. she continued to cry until she had worked herself up so much she eventually choked and was sick everywhere. now i feel she has won the battle because my calmness turned to panic and we came home. what do i do? how do i ever dare to enter a shop again and is it unusual for them to make themselves sick??
oh yes i have been there and i am still there now as my son is 2 and some times he is great in the shops other times he will cry and shout so i have to leave,i always tried when my son was younger is to go out after a meal so you no your little one is not hungry and with a full tum they are more likley to go to sleep,i also found that alot of shops are hot so when you go in maybe remove the blanket but there are no easy answers to this as alot of children dont like shopping, but i wouldnt worry about the sickness as some children are sick when they work themselves up its like a release valve, but i talk to my son all round the shops and sing to him and i dont care what peopkle think about me its reasurance for your child and keeps them entertained.
oh and i forgot to say,its so easy to say but so hard to do,but try to stay calm as your little one will sence you are upset and wound up which will make them worse.so calmly talk to your daughter get down to her level and be calm and soft with her and she will be more calm to.
thank you so much for your advice. just knowing other children can behave like this is in a way a relief. my son who is 11years never played up in shops and i thought i must have been mum of the year!!! lol! but i now know different and sometimes feel as im an older mum this time i should be an expert but its the opposite!! i will try to sin along, i have now learnt iggle piggles song! and try your suggestions and thank you once again
