is my son allergic to cows milk??

hiya, my 7 month old son is on cow and gate follow on, before that he was on premium, but he is sick quite a lot, even more than a lot of other babies. he also suffers from eczma badly on his cheeks, which he always has but some days are worse than others, and has had a few coughs. Do you think it could be his milk, would it be worth changing to soy? Any comments grately recieved!!

I would take him to your GP if you're worried about an allergy. My youngest was always really sick with lots of dry skin and eczema but they wouldn't do anything until he was 10 months. He turns 1 next week and we are waiting to see a dietician but they still won't refer him for tests because apparently they don't like taking blood from babies! I'm not sure how long with have to cope with a sick covered child until they will refer him!

my husband is deadly allergic to milk, eggs, wheat and nuts, when he was a baby he had exactly the same symptoms. for a milk replacement he has cow and gate infasoy (even tho hes in his 20's!) he still suffers from eczema if he is around any of the four ingredients. his advice is take your son to a doctor JUST for a blood test nothing else, as the nhs will try and give your son cows milk which may make him worse and may turn him deadly allergic to milk, try not to go to a training hospital for the bloods as they may want to experiment on his allergy and this will make him worse, but as he so young he may well grow out of it by the time he is 3 and more than likely he is not deadly allergic so dont worry. :) hope this is of some help to you and i hope you find a solution soon!

Hi, your sons symptoms sound very similar to my daughters, she had extremely bad colic from 0-6 months and a lot of sickness, I managed to get special milk from the doctor eventually!! (had to just keep going to get them to listen) she is on Nutramigen which is free from cows milk, which worked a treat, then when she started solids and I tried dairy products the same symptoms re-occured, anyway she was tested at the hospital a couple of weeks ago (she was one last week) and they told me to avoid cows milk, she also has excema on her hands and legs. So my advice to you would be to see the GP and get a cows milk free milk. Good luck x

Hi my 6 months old baby boy is also suffering with eczema, 2 weeks ago his cheeks were looked really bad as you told about ur's son. he had an appointment in hospital with the Dermatologist, we asked about the allergy test but he said they dont do baby's allergy test until they will grown up. they gave us a antibiotic and a steriod cream, i didnt apply that cream.
my Gp gave me Epaderm moisturiser and Piriton syrup also i used Emollient 50(liquid paraffin in white soft paraffin ointment) and beleive me it's a miracle, my baby's cheeks turns normal. his eczema was really worst on his arms legs and on cheeks but thank 2 my dear God he looks really fyn nowdays.
you should ask your GP about these medicines i think it can works. let me know as well ok hun dont worry he'll be alright soon just apply lots of moisturiser. take care xx

i suffer from eczma and find heat stress/change and dairy can affect it but the biggest irritant was my cat n rabbit they ad to go sad but worked diprobase is a good cream to try. Changing to soy is a big step my 19mth is dairy intollerant and i worried about whether she would get enough calcium etc.my daughter had colief drops (which u can buy or on script)they were fab colic can persist after 6mths even if ur doc says not!!!try them first if they work tell ur doc its cheaper by far on script haha gud luk luv n dont worry trust ur intuition
