Allergies and intolerancesdairy intolerant!!
my son is dairy intolerant and i would like to start introducing some solids i have found some rice which he enjoys but would like to know of any other dairy/lactose free foods for him he is nearly 6 months
Hi, I would start off with veggies anyway, both my children were weaned on veg after baby rice and have no problems trying any type of veg :-))
Root veg are good things like potato, sweet potato, parsnip, carrot and combinations of them, also butternut squash is a good weaning veg as they like the sweet taste. I assume you are giving lactose free milk, if some of the veg are a bit dry you can mix some milk in them to get a better consistency :-))xx
What milk is he on? Two of mine were on neocate and would try and not mix that in with the food if you can as it over powers the food. Porridge is good it can be Plum or one of the others that have no milk in or good old ready brek but a good start is potato and parsnip but if you are not in too home made Ella's kitchen are diary and soy free in the most and have gorgeous flavours the bubs enjoy. hope that helps.
i agree with buffy - start off on vegetables anyway (my daughter didnt like baby rice so was weaned straight on to veg). dont introduce fruit until he has a good liking for a wide range of vegetables so as to give him a sweet tooth. when making vegetables, you can mix in some of the cooking water to thin it out (i only say this by what is said above about milk overpowering the food). i'm not entirely sure about other ready made foods as i home made all my daughter's meals (she is now 3 1/2 yrs old) - that may be a way for you to go at least you can be sure you arent adding dairy!
