NovemberABDOMINAL CIRCUMFERENCE QUITE LARGE ON SCAN, ANYONE ELSE FOUND THIS?
Hi I am 24 weeks pregnant, had my scan 4 weeks ago. All was totally normal. Went to my midwife yesterday for 24 week check, she looked at my results of scan and said ''oh you have a chubby baby''!! I asked what she meant ,as I had no idea about the results and did not read them as the scan lady said all was normal and healthy.( I have no idea what the notes mean most of the time). She said that the AC measured off the scale (166.0mm) but completely normal. I accepted this but started thinkng about it afterwards, as you do!
I decided today to call my hospital Scan Dept and query it to put mund at ease, as I have read that this could be caused by Gest Diabetes. The Sonographer who carried out my scan spoke to me and assured me that this measurement could have been due to the way the baby was laid at the time as its sometimes awkward to measure the AC. Plus the baby was wriggling so much at the time. She sid she is not concerned at all otherwise she would have arraged another scan a few weeks later.
She also asked me to read to her over the phone what my Midwife had written down in my notes form yesterdays appointment. She asked me my Fubndal Height which is 24cm, she went on to say that this is spot on as usually the amount of weeks pregnantt you are is approx what the Fundal Height should measure at, this gives them an idea of the size of the baby and if it was way bigger or smaller than 24cms at 24 wks the Midwife would have been concerned and arranged for this to be investugated further. So again she was not concerned and that was the end of the conversation.
Has anyone else had this experice or similar, I am a little more convinced all is fine but there is still a very little part of me that is still not 100% convinced. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
