My baby girl is 2 weeks old today and I have been breastfeeding her. 6 days after birth midwife weighed her and she had gone from her birth weight of 7lbs 9oz down to 6lbs 6oz. I was told by midwife to take her to the hospital as she had lost over 10 percent of her birth weight, at the hospital they said that she is not getting enough of my breast milk and that I should give her top ups of formula milk, I done this and had her weighed 3 days later and she weighed 6lbs 10oz. They told me to try her on my breast milk alone for the next few days and when I took her too weighed on yesterday her weight had stayed the same (6lbs 10oz). I don_t understand why my breast milk is not making my baby put on weight, I know she is latched on well and seems content after feeds, sleeps well and has lots of wet nappies. Midwife says it_s because I_m not getting enough rest, which is hard for me as I have 3 other children as well. I did not breast feed my other children so this is the first time I have experienced this. Is their any other mothers who this has happened to? I will be very grateful for all replies and advice as I really don_t want to give my baby formula milk
