Cow & Gate

Hello, my name is Marilyn and I am a Specialist Advisor on the Cow & Gate Careline. It is lovely to read that you are beginning to feel happier about breast feeding and that you have the support of your partner. Breast feeding certainly will give your baby the best start in life but I do sympathise with you not wanting to breast feed in public. There will be ways around this though as once your breast milk is established you will be able to express some milk and freeze it for those days when you are out and about or for when you have company. Alternatively, the occasional bottle of a First ready made infant milk formula may be used when breast feeding just isn't possible. Once baby is here and you become more experienced with breast feeding you may master the technique of feeding in public without anyone realising what you are doing - this is possible! Please do contact our Careline on 08457623623 if you feel that we may be able to help you more with your queries about breast feeding.

I would say don't worry about it - I am pregnant with my 2nd child and am hoping to breastfeed like I did with my first - you don't have to do anything you don't feel comfortable with - maybe you could feed at home and express for when you are out and about then you don't have to worry about feeding in public - people are very understanding and there is always somewhere private you can go. It is probably the best thing you will do but I believe you have to really want to do it to make it work. Good luck x
