Mild chicken & veg curry
Suitable from 10 months+
No added soya
No added egg
Ingredients:
- 175g (6oz) fine green beans, trimmed and chopped
- 1 chicken breast (125g/4oz), skinned and cut into small cubes
- ½ small onion (prepared weight approx. 50g/2oz), peeled and finely chopped
- 1 small clove garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- ½ medium sweet potato (prepared weight approx. 175g/6oz), peeled and cut into small cubes
- ¼ of a butternut squash (prepared weight approx. 150g/5oz), deseeded, peeled and cut into small cubes
- 1 small potato (prepared weight approx. 50g/2oz), peeled and cut into small cubes
- 1 tablespoon plain flour
- ½ teaspoon curry paste (Tandoori, mild)
- 100ml (3½ fl oz) full cream milk
Please note:
Remember not to add salt to any of your baby's recipes.
Please check ingredients carefully as some products may contain allergens that you are unaware of. For example, some vegetable oils and margarines can contain soya.
Method:
- Add the beans to a pan of boiling water, bring back to the boil and cook 3-4 minutes until just tender. Drain, reserving the cooking water and cool the beans under cold running water so they keep their bright green colour. Set aside.
- Put the chicken, onion, garlic and oil in a pan and stir-fry over a medium heat for 5 minutes. Add the sweet potato, squash and potato, put the lid on and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle in the flour, and stir in well, with the curry paste. Pour in 350ml (12 fl oz) of the reserved cooking water, bring to the boil then simmer, half covered with the lid for 20 minutes until the vegetables are just softened.
- Stir in the milk and when mixed in, stir in the cooked green beans.
- Cool for a few minutes then put the mixture into a blender or food processor and pulse a few so that the mixture looks like it's been chopped into small chunky pieces, suitable for your baby.
- Makes multiple servings. Just freeze the remaining food into portions appropriate for your baby. Can be kept in the freezer for a maximum of 1 month or 3 days in a covered bowl or plastic tub in the fridge.
