Meet our Amazing Mum!

To celebrate Mother’s Day, we asked you to tell us about someone you know who you think is an Amazing Mum. Someone who has a really special way about them and is an inspiration to you. A special mum who you would love to be like. Thanks for all the fantastic nominations you sent us – from inspirational mums and grandmas to loving friends and cousins.

Special congratulations go to our winner Lesley Quinton from Horsham, West Sussex. She was nominated by her daughter Victoria and this is what she said about her Amazing Mum:

A little more about our Amazing Mum...

Lesley, 56, works with her husband and daughter in the family business. They make personalised cake toppings using sugar paper and they’re always making each other laugh or smile. “We’re really close and spend a lot of time together at work,” says Lesley. And with Victoria expecting her first child, it’s clear that the family want to stay close – they’ve decided to build a crèche in the office itself!

At 26, Victoria is the older sister of Luke, 21. “Now they’re grown up, I enjoy that they still come to me for reassurance and comfort,” explains Lesley. “And knowing Victoria, she’ll always have me in the back of her mind whenever she makes a decision.”

When we spoke to Lesley, we learnt that things hadn’t always been easy and that for nearly 10 years her husband Tony was seriously ill. Lesley told us how she stayed strong for the rest of the family – it was a really emotional chat that left us both holding back tears. Thankfully, after nearly a decade of Lesley’s love and support, Tony is fit and healthy again. It’s a heart-warming story.

“I knew that I’d been nominated, but I didn’t know what Victoria had written about me,” says Lesley. “I’ve never been to a spa before, so it will be a real treat. I’m very privileged and happy to have won the Amazing Mum competition!”
