|Approx age of baby||Approx weight of baby kg / lbs||Number of level scoops||Amount of water ml / fl oz||Feeds in 24 hours|
The above information is based on preparation for single feeds.
*Assumes weaning at 6 months. Your baby may need more or less than the feeding guide above. This information is given as a guide only. Consult your healthcare professional if you require more advice.
1 scoop = 4.4g
Always use the scoop provided. The colour of the scoop in this pack may change from time to time.
Because powdered milks are not sterile, failure to follow instructions may make your baby ill.
- For hygiene reasons, do not store made-up feeds. Make up each feed as required and always discard unfinished feeds after 2 hours.
- If necessary offer cooled boiled water between feeds.
- Do not heat in a microwave, hot spots may occur and cause scalding.
- This product should not be used in combination with antacids or other feed thickeners (eg Cow & Gate Instant Carobel).
- As this is a thickened feed, fast or variable flow teats are recommended.
- Storage – use powder within 4 weeks of opening and store in a cool dry place – do not refrigerate.
Wash hands and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers’ instructions
Boil 1 litre of freshly run water. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
Measure the required amount of boiled water into a large sterilised bottle. Seal bottle and allow to cool for 45 minutes.
Using the scoop provided, level off the powder with the built-in leveller. Do not press/heap the powder.
Add one scoop to every 30ml (1 fl oz) of boiled cooled water. Add the correct number of scoops to the water. Adding too many or too few scoops can be harmful.
Replace seal on bottle and roll the bottle upright between the palms of hands – roll it strongly for 5 seconds. The time between adding the scoops and rolling the bottle should be as short as possible.
Shake the bottle for 20 seconds and then leave to stand for 7 minutes to allow it to thicken. Turn the bottle upside down just before feeding and test the temperature on your wrist.
How is Cow & Gate anti-reflux different from other milks?
Cow & Gate anti-reflux is a thicker formula made with ingredients that help to relieve reflux:
- Carob bean gum, an ingredient that thickens the formula when it’s mixed and makes sure that formula stays thick in the stomach, helping the feed to stay down
- Other key nutrients, just like those found in our infant milks
At Cow & Gate we’re committed to providing the best nutrition for babies and toddlers. That's why Cow & Gate anti-reflux also contains LCPs, such as omega 3 and 6, as well as nucleotides, which are also important for healthy development.
How is Cow & Gate anti-reflux different from other reflux and regurgitation milks?
Most other thickened feeds are made with starches instead of carob bean gum. These feeds are partly digested by your baby’s saliva, so they may lose their thickness before reaching your baby’s tummy. Thickened feeds with carob bean gum are less affected by your baby’s saliva and therefore stay thicker in your baby’s tummy.
Cow & Gate anti-reflux contains important nutrients, such as LCPs and nucelotides, to make sure your baby gets the nutrients they need for healthy growth. It is important that you don’t combine different reflux and regurgitation remedies.
What kind of teat should I use?
Because Cow & Gate anti-reflux is thicker than other milks, it’s recommended that you use a single hole fast-flow teat.
When can I expect the symptoms to improve?
Every baby is different – you may notice that their symptoms start to improve after a few days, but for some babies it may take longer. If your baby's symptoms don't improve after 2 weeks, or if you have any other concerns, then it's best to get advice from your health visitor or GP.
Will I notice any changes in my baby?
The special ingredients in Cow & Gate anti-reflux mean the consistency of your baby's stools may change. However there’s no need to worry as this is perfectly normal!
