Your baby’s brain at 0 - 3 months

The reason your baby needs so much sleep and such regular feeds is to help their brain to develop. You might not see it yourself because you’re with them every day, but friends and family often say they can’t believe how much more alert a baby has become within such a short space of time. As their brain develops, so does their personality – which means there’s lots of fun to come! If you want to ask us a question, just get in touch.

Although your baby might not be very responsive to outside stimulation (other than feeding and cuddles!) when newborn, by 3 months they’ll become more reactive. You’ll probably notice that loud noises will startle your baby or make them cry, but your familiar voice should quickly comfort them! As their brain develops they’ll start to become very curious about what’s going on around them, and use as many senses as they can to explore their world.
